About Colleen

For over 23 years as a professional artist, Colleen Phelon Hall has painted murals and created custom artwork for commercial and residential clients. Over the years, she has specialized in educational and healing artwork for schools and healthcare environments. Colleen's commissions range from transforming large commercial spaces to custom paintings for individuals. Recently, Colleen has added social practice art to her repertoire. In this work, Colleen uses collaborative strategies such as storytelling and community engagement to empower others to join in the creative process. She seeks to gather voices, especially those who are often unheard in order to create artwork that raises awareness of important social issues. Her collaborative community-focused mural "Transforming Perspectives" for Senior Connections focused on aging while her current community based mural focuses on Maggie L. Walker's struggle for racial and gender equality.
Originally from New York, Colleen settled in Virginia after earning both an art and business degree at the University of Richmond. After college, Colleen lived overseas as a Rotary Scholar and was bitten by the travel bug. She has photographed and painted some of Europe's most beautiful sites. Colleen looks forward to helping to bring your creative ideas to life.
