About Colleen

For almost 30 years, Colleen Phelon Hall has been transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary with her commissioned artwork. Her murals have transformed children's rooms into lush forests and sterile hospital walls into comforting underwater scenes. In recent years, Colleen added collaborative community murals to the mix, helping to bring hundreds of people together to create public art.
    Returning to her studio during Covid, Colleen turned her focus to one of her favorite subjects: dogs! Along with offering vibrant commissioned portraits, Colleen launched a collaborative art project focused on people and their pets (see more at PetStoryProject.com). Colleen truly enjoys getting to know all about your pet and tries to imbue each portrait with personality.
    Colleen received the VMFA’s Muse award and has created artwork for celebrity clients here and abroad including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone, Middle Eastern royalty, and other VIP clients. Her commercial clients have included Sørlandet Hospital in Kristiansand, Norway, VCU Health System, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, the Faison Center, the Department of Defense/Wilkerson Pediatric Center, Make a Wish Foundation, and VW of North America. Colleen's artwork has been licensed and sold online and in Target stores, and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Mail, and on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
   Originally from New York, Colleen earned a full academic scholarship at the University of Richmond where she studied both art and business. After college, Colleen lived overseas in London as a Rotary Scholar and was bitten by the travel bug. She loves to travel and has photographed and painted some of Europe's most beautiful sites. Colleen enjoys gardening and cooking and lives with her family in Richmond, Virginia with their dog, Coconut.
